The 2010-2011 school year marks the 50^th Anniversary of Winston Churchill High School. We will be celebrating throughout the year in many ways.
We've already had an Alumni Staff BBQ and a huge celebration for all alumni and staff. But that's not the end, events will continue throughout the year including alumni basketball tournaments for both Bulldogs (Dec 4) and Griffins (Jan 21)

Glen Alexander Memorial Alumni Tournament

For those you who didn't have the pleasure of knowing Glen her is a brief bio on his time and impact on Churchill Basketball.

In Sept 1969 Glen got a job at Winston Churchill, and so completed his Education degree at summer and night school with the U of L graduating in 1971. For many years (12) he taught ½ time so that he could farm and teach. During those years he coached: Griffin basketball at Churchill 1969-72, winning provincials in 1972, U of L women's team, 1972-73 and the Bulldogs 1973-86.

His impact was far reaching as many of the players he coached are the most active alumnus and three have been recognized on the Churchill Wall of Fame for their various athletic achievements. A true Churchillian!

You are invited to attend the Glen Alexander Memorial Alumni Basketball Tournament Saturday December 4th, 2010. The tournament promises to bring together the young and the old from Churchill's storied basketball past. Games will be played against other alumni. No schedule as of yet as we are waiting to see how many players/teams register, but you can expect to start play in the early afternoon and end before 7pm that night. Games will consist of two 20-minute, running-time halves with a 5 minute warm-up and 5 min half time. The cost to play is $25. You may register as an individual or put together your own team.
There will also be an assortment of Bulldog apparel for sale (past t-shirts, jerseys, and shorts). Please fill out the form below email it to wchsbasketball@lethsd.ab.ca.

Griffins 50th Anniversary Basketball Game

January 21-22, 2011
All former Griffin Basketball player’s are invited to return to the court on January 21st and 22nd. The current Griffins will be hosting an alumni tournament on this weekend.
Please join us for some basketball, socializing, sharing of old memories and the makingof new ones.
The cost will be $30. This will include a jersey and refreshments during the game.
